Ian, an eleven year old boy from Toluca, Mexico, has been a patient of Shriners Hospital for the past ten years.
At eleven months old, Ian was involved in an accident that left him with burns to over 38% of his body. The affected areas of his body include his head, face, chest, back and right arm.
On the day of his accident, Ian’s family was told that Shriners Hospital would be able to provide him with the optimal care needed for a successful recovery. Ian and his family were immediately transferred to Shriners and underwent multiple surgeries throughout their first year.
After that first year, Ian and his family learned of Ronald McDonald House Galveston. Since their very first night at the House, they made the decision to make every journey back to Shriners one that would always include Ronald McDonald House Galveston.
Ian’s Mom states “the loving, peaceful, and kind atmosphere helps us to make our process much happier. Whenever we come to Ronald McDonald House Galveston, we end up making new friends. Ian loves playing in the playroom, being on the playground, and riding bikes. He loves going to school and learning English, playing musical instruments with the other children, and games. We are grateful to everyone who contributes to Ronald McDonald House Galveston with their donations. It is because of them that all of us who stay can be comfortable and at ease. We have food and a great place to stay. Seeing my child and the other children happy is the greatest satisfaction for any parent.”
“Being at Ronald McDonald House Galveston is truly a wonderful place. It’s just like you’re coming Home.”
